David Raymond Wilmot, age 85, died on Friday, Dec. 11 2020 at Ascension St Mary's Hospital.
David was born in Rhinelander on Aug. 2, 1935 to Raymond and Anna (Arndt) Wilmot. He attended West School, Zion Lutheran School, and Rhinelander Vocational School.
He married Beverly Jane Rice on Nov. 3, 1956 and they shared 64 years together. David worked at Wendland Motors from 1955-1965, then worked for 35 years for Moritz Tire in Rhinelander.
He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, volunteered at Nativity of Our Lord Pine Lake Thrift Shop for many years and was an usher at Nativity. He was a charter member of the Rhinelander Antique Auto Club. He served as the tour marshal of the club, which traveled all over Wisconsin and Michigan. He enjoyed working on his old cars, especially convertibles, and never missed driving his car in the Fourth of July parade.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters: Jaynie (David) Busche, Jude Wilmot-Lynch (Patrick Lynch), Joni Houle, Jan Allen and one son: Thomas. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Michelle and Emily Busche, Caitlyn (James) Leiva, Adam, Andy, and Alex Lynch, Katie (Todd) Hollister, Kristin Houle, Nicholas Wilmot, Melissa (Emil) Zalabak, Alexis Allen (Mike Zuiker), Stephanie Allen (Bryant Smith), and four great-grandchildren: Julie Breivogel, Emma Zalabak, Skylar Mahner, and Carter Smith.
He is further survived by his sister: Nancy (Roy) Lechner; sister-in-law: Judy Wilmot; and his wife's family: Richard (Anna) Rice, Eugene (Dorothy) Rice, Ronald Rice, Jack (Laurie) Rice, Mary Lou Rice (Jim Gorski), and Jim (Sara) Rice along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents: Loyal and Leone Rice; his brother: Gene; sister-in-law Joanne Rice and son-in-law George Allen.
Dave will be remembered for his passion for old cars, love of his dogs, his willingness to help others, and love for his family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ascension, Dr. Brooks and his nurses for their care of Dave.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
