Walter "Pete" Rolain, 90, of Rhinelander, sadly passed away June 26, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Pete was born May 29, 1932 in Rhinelander the son of Walter and Elin (Nordquist) Rolain. He was raised in Rhinelander and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Lake George and then Rhinelander High School. After his schooling Pete went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster on the USS Arcadia from 1952-1956. During those four years he traveled to all corners of the world. Upon his honorable discharge, Pete returned to the states, specifically West Springfield, Pa. where he married and had children. He later divorced and returned to Rhinelander where he worked for Jed's Distributing for many years until his retirement. It was during those years that he enjoyed the time spent with his special friend Elaine Loduha.
Pete will be remembered as a man who had a sweet tooth and who loved company, fishing, hunting and watching sports. He took great pride in his home and garden. His family and friends will also remember him as a man set in his ways, but for all the best reasons. He was grateful for all the people who assisted him when he needed it.
Pete is survived by his children, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, his sisters Betty Callahan, Lois Lukarich, Barbara Stevens, Karen Franke and Nancy (Edwin) Kuehn, his brothers Donald Rolain and Richard (Marilyn) Rolain, many nieces and nephews, all of Elaine's family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son Steven, his parents and his brothers Robert, Darrell and Raymond.
Visitation for Pete will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery. After committal services at the cemetery there will be a further celebration in honor of Pete at Brokers, on Lincoln Street in Rhinelander. I am so sorry to hear of Pete passing away. He had a special place in my heart for many years. He was the type of person everyone loved. He definately made me laugh on several occasions. Rest in Peace Pete. Till I see you on the other side.

So sorry to hear of Pete's passing. He was a great guy with lots of friends. I remember working with him one summer at Jed's Distributing. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I can remember. When I was a kid he would always mess with me and his nephew Mark. I know Pete will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
