11/10/2012 7:30:00 AM GNC Honors Festival coming to Rhinelander
Kim Swisher School District of Rhinelander Community Education Coordinator
The GNC Honors Festival is an annual music. This year's festival will be held at Rhinelander High School this Saturday, Nov. 10. Music directors from seven schools nominate approximately 20 of their top musicians to form an honors band and an honors chorus. The groups come together on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. to rehearse with the guest clinician/director for each ensemble. This year's guest band director is Dr. Timothy Yontz, Director of Music Education at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. This year's guest chorus director is Dr. Lucinda Thayer, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
The 140 students spend the day rehearsing, dining and getting to know each other. The day culminates in a concert open to the public on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Rhinelander High School Auditorium. Admission is $4. We hope you will join us for this very special event.
