Rhinelander FBLA/DECA takes on Trick or Can food drive

The Rhinelander FBLA/DECA Chapter is once again participating in the statewide community service project, Trick or Can.

Members of the FBLA/DECA will be dropping off bags for community donations on Oct. 16 and will be back to pick up the non-perishable food items on Oct. 30, according to a School District of Rhinelander press release.

"Halloween marks a time each year when community members are willing to open their doors and interact with one another, spreading joy and treats generously, but it is also a great time of need in our community," the release states. "That is why so many DECA chapters across the state have begun to adopt Trick or Can into their community service events."

FBLA/DECA is an acronym for Future Business Leaders of America and Distribute Education Clubs of America.

On Oct. 16 Rhinelander High School students will go out into the community strategically and safety distributing donation bags to homes with a flyer explaining what can and cannot be donated, the release states.

"The community's job as a recipient is to place non-perishable food items into the bag and be ready to have it picked up on Oct. 30," the release states. "If you will not be home that day, you can just leave it out front of your home with a note."

All donations will go to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry where they will redistribute to families. All assistance is appreciated. For more information, contact the RHS FBLA/DECA advisor Mischell Fryar at (715) 365-9500 or
