Students interested in the culinary arts continue to have more career options at Nicolet as the college recently launched its new culinary management associate degree.
The new credential is geared more for those interested in the operation of a business in the food industry, Nicolet Dean Jeff Labs, who oversees the culinary arts program, said in a press release.
"Running a restaurant or any other food service related business involves so much more than preparing great food and great dishes," Labs said.
"There's purchasing, business and personnel management, cost control and a host of other tasks that need to be performed in order for an enterprise to be productive and profitable. Along with learning the traditional food preparation skills, students in this new program have an increased focus on managing the business side of the house as well."
Classes start Monday, Aug. 28.
Nicolet's culinary program is structured where students first earn a short-term certificate. Those credits then ladder into a technical diploma with additional classes and culminate with one of two associate degrees: one in culinary arts and the other in culinary management.
The college also has numerous credit transfer agreements in place with four-year colleges and universities where students can continue on to earn a bachelor's degree.
