|Creative and high-tech engineering will take center stage at the upcoming robotics camp at Nicolet College.|
Open to students entering seventh- or eighth- grade in the fal, participants will expand their talents in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as they build a sophisticated robot, the college said in a press release.

As Melissa Blackwell pursues her dream of becoming a nurse, she thinks about how she wants to help save infants who face great obstacles when they're born. When she was growing up, she learned that a relative gave birth to a son, with no signs of illness, who died after only living one day.|
"After hearing this story, I knew I wanted to do something that would help other babies like him," she said. "I know it won't be easy, and at times it will be emotional, but it is a rewarding experience and I'm ready for the challenge."

Citing his great attitude, impressive skills, and solid work ethic, the Nicolet College Welding Department has awarded its 2016 Top Gun Welding Award to Brett LaBrasca of Rhinelander.|
"We had several top-performing students, any one of which would have been deserving of the award," Nicolet College welding instructor Warren Krause said in a press release. "What set Brett apart was a combination of factors.

|Nativity students learn about poverty during Red Nose Day|
Nativity Catholic School students and staff used entertainment Thursday to raise awareness and money for Red Nose Day - a global effort to help children in need.|
Students and teachers filed into the gym, big red balls fastened to their noses.
The fourth-grade teachers - Ann Zemski and Jodi Peyer - bought red noses for their classes and asked their students to bring in $1 to secretly buy a nose for another classroom and that class would pay it forward. (subscriber access)

|Nicolet graduates 470 in weekend ceremonies|
Years of hard work and perseverance was rewarded Saturday as 470 students received 580 credentials at the Nicolet Area Technical College spring 2016 commencement ceremonies. Many graduates received multiple college credentials including associate degrees, diplomas and certificates.|
The ceremony took place inside the Rhinelander High School Auditorium, due to renovations at the Nicolet Learning Resource Center. (subscriber access)

|Rhinelander students win
automotive competition at Nicolet
Students at Rhinelander High School walked away with a traveling trophy this month, after winning the first annual Nicolet Automotive Competition.|
Led by their teacher Josh Legrey, all four of the students who competed placed in the top 10. Senior Jed Everson took first place, senior Lucas Price took second, sophomore Riley VanDoren took fifth, and junior Sam Julson took sixth. (subscriber access)
