Three Lakes vocal students attend music festival

Saturday, Nov. 10, the Singing in Wisconsin Vocal Music Festival was held at Wausau East High School in Wausau.

The Three Lakes School District was represented by 48 students in grades 5-12 from Three Lakes and Sugar Camp. Students were placed in choirs with up to 120 other singers from the north central part of the state.

Singing with the Youth Choir (grades five and six) were Ethan Spears, Megan Clay, Cheyanne Felten, Carter Pitlik, Drake Martin, Peyton Erickson, Brianna Retzlaff, Elizabeth Stoehr, James Clay, Martin Hoger, Calvin Clay, and Tiffiny Ruffie from Sugar Camp Elementary.

Three Lakes Elementary contributed Evan Senter, Alexis Congleton, Christinia Kubiak, Nyah Millis, Hannah Clough, Isabelle Thomaschefsky, Daniella Diva, Carolena Sperry, Hadley Miles, Kate Fath, Ayla Fairchild, Kourtnie Volk, Chloe Tatro, Gabriella DalPonte, Grace Menut, Samuel Welhoefer, and Emily Schmitt.

Singing with the Young Women's Choir (grades seven to nine) were; Megan Clouse, Grace Klesczewski, Emma Fath, Anna Kroll, MaKenna Kalata, Cara Swendson, Kayla Crump, Jessica Tillman, Grace Hoger, Cassidy Krump, Savannah Edwards, and Whitney Clay.

Singing with the Young Men's Choir (grades seven to nine) were; Alex Metzger and Cody Scott.

Performing with the SATB Mixed Choir (grades 10-12) were; Anthony Briggs, Moriah Clay, Anya Fairchild, Kinsey Queen, and Jeff Stefonik.

Singers rehearsed and performed with guest conductors, including nationally renowned vocal music composer Emily Crocker, who directed the Youth Choir.

Wisconsin is the only state where this opportunity is offered, with festivals also being held in Eau Claire, Milwaukee, and Appleton with a total of approximately 2,000 students singing the same concert across the state in one day.

Students were selected according to their vocal and general music teacher, Lisa Smetana, who based selection on their interest in singing. Students were able to attend because she is a member of the Wisconsin Choral Director's Association, who sponsored the event.
