WIFA State Championship draws 700 high school anglers to Minocqua
From it's beginnings as a contest between two high schools, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Association (WIFA) turned a small-scale tournament into a state championship with 65 schools sending 80 teams for a total of 700 high school anglers to Lake Minocqua and Tomahawk last weekend.(subscriber access)

42nd annual Rhinelander Lions Fisheree returns to Boom Lake this weekend
The 42nd annual Rhinelander Lions Fisheree is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11. The fishing headquarters will be the Hodag Park Boom Lake Boat Landing Pavilion with fishing on Boom and Bass Lake and part of Wisconsin River Flowage, organizers said in a press release.

Fate of 'wolf bill' still undecided
The fight to delist the wolf in Wisconsin has been a long and arduous one. Legislation at the federal level has failed to gain the momentum needed to get the wolf delisted and to keep the courts out of a decision many believe should be made through science rather than as a matter of law or public opinion.
