St. Germain man charged following internet sting
River News Staff

A 45-year-old St. Germain man was charged Wednesday with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and attempted second degree sexual assault of a child after he allegedly sent an explicit message to a police officer posing as a 15-year-old and attempted to meet the individual at a location in Minocqua.

According to a criminal complaint filed April 17, Steven John Seniura responded to an internet ad posted by an undercover Oneida County detective which stated: "Moving to Minocqua" and "New to Minocqua. HMU if you want to hang out".

The complaint states Seniura and the officer posing as a teenager communicated via email and text message with the officer sending at least one message stating "she" was 15 years old.

"Ultimately I want to talk help give you the sex you want whenever I can as much as you need it . . ." Seniura allegedly replied, according to the complaint.

Seniura was arrested in a Minocqua parking lot April 15.

In interviews with police, he claimed he was "cutting through" the lot to get to another business, had no intention of meeting with the person he had been communicating with online and did not understand why he was arrested.

He admitted to sending "shirtless pics" to the person he was communicating with but claimed he didn't know her age or remember if he had sent any images of nudity, the complaint states.

Officers later produced two photos of male genitalia that Seniura admitted were images of himself.

Seniura made an initial appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court April 17 at which time bail was set at $15,000 cash.

An adjourned initial appearance was scheduled for Monday, April 22.

Senuira faces a maximum of 60 years in prison if convicted.
