A convicted sex offender will be released from a treatment facility later this month and is expected to reside in Gleason.
According to the Lincoln County sheriff's department, David Malsch, 80, will be released June 19 and will reside at N4883A Lilac Lane in Gleason .
"On 12/21/2000, Mr. Malsch was committed under Chapter 980 Sexually Violent Persons Law. On 12/3/2018, the Court ordered a Supervised Release Plan be developed for Mr. Malsch. On 5/24/2019, a hearing was held and the Court approved the Supervised Release Plan. On 6/19/2019, Mr. Malsch will be released to the community on Supervised Release," the press release states. "This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public."
Upon release, Malsch will be placed on Intensive Supervision, and will be subject to the Global Positioning System (GPS), the release notes. Malsch will also be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life. The registry can be located at https://appsdoc.wi.gov/public.
According to the sheriff's department, Malsch was convicted of child enticement in Marathon County in 1993. He was also convicted of receiving child pornography following a federal investigation out of Missouri, the release notes.
"While acting as a priest and counselor, Mr. Malsch photographed minor males engaged in sexually explicit positions, sexually assaulted minor males, and groomed the minor males by providing them alcohol, clothing, jewelry and invitations for overnight stays," the release states. "While in Missouri, Mr. Malsch received and sent sexually explicit photographs of minor males."
