Lac du Flambeau man appears in court in elderly battery case
Abigail Bostwick
of the Lakeland Times

After being located out of state and extradited back to Wisconsin, a Lac du Flambeau man is being held in the Vilas County Jail, on a $50,000 cash bond, while he awaits the appointment of a public defender to represent him on multiple elderly battery charges.

Charges were filed several weeks ago against Christopher Fralick, 40, in Vilas County Court, including two counts of aggravated battery of an elderly person with domestic abuse enhancers as well as attempting to flee/elude officers, second degree recklessly endanger safety and disorderly conduct domestic abuse.

Fralick's parents told police he had been acting strangely and then threatened to beat both of them before knocking them to the ground and taking off in his car, according to the criminal complaint.

The couple denied medical attention. That same afternoon, police were notified Fralick had just purchased a machete, two axes and a crossbow and was "acting very disturbed," at the Minocqua Wal-Mart store, based on statements made from employees there.

When police tried to pull Fralick over on Old Abe Road, a high speed chase ensued with multiple local law enforcement agencies and Fralick got away. The public was advised he was armed and dangerous.

Fralick was apprehended in Pennsylvania a few days later.

At an initial appearance Oct. 10, Fralick noted he qualifies for public defender assistance, but had yet to have a lawyer appointed.

Bond was amended to change contact with his parents from none to "no abusive contact."

Further, Fralick cannot have firearms, knives, axes or hatchets and must maintain absolute sobriety, if released on bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 4.
