A second person has been charged in a recent alleged methamphetamine manufacturing operation.
Jack Svoke, 35, Boulder Junction, is charged in Oneida County Circuit Court with felonies manufacture methamphetamine, possess materials for manufacturing methamphetamine, purchase pseudoephedrine for another with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and bail jumping as well as misdemeanor possess drug paraphernalia. Svoke was on extended supervision after being released from the Wisconsin State Prison system in July 2019.
Charged earlier in the same case is Michelle L. James, 49, with purchase pseudoephedrine for another with intent to facilitate another person's manufacture of meth, possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping - all felonies - and misdemeanor possessing drug paraphernalia.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Department Task Force conducted a controlled substance investigation starting in summer of 2019. Officers found Svoke made purchases in July of certain cold and allergy medications that may be used for manufacturing methamphetamine and other illicit drugs - brought to their attention by the National Precursor Log Exchange. Because officers knew Svoke's history, they found the information "alarming," the criminal complaint indicates.
Further, James was believed to be purchasing pseudoephedrine for Svoke. Purchase dates between the two spanned the Lakeland area from July to later November, January and February, reports add.
A search warrant mid-February at James' home found "numerous items of evidentiary value." Besides the cold medicine, other items purchased included lighter fluid, muriatic acid, household lye, cold packs and coffee filters. James also admitted to at least two instances where Svoke made meth inside her residence, court reports state.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Svoke. Court action is pending that action.
For James, a preliminary hearing is set for March 31. She is being held in jail on a $3,000 cash bond.
