Eagle River man found not guilty of sexual assault

Judge denies motion to dismiss Tran case

The assistant corporation counsel representing Oneida County in a civil suit filed by the It Matters to One animal rescue organization seeking the return of 39 canines seized from its facility in February as part of an animal mistreatment investigation has filed a motion seeking to compel the operator of the rescue to turn over a copy of her agreement with Oneida County prosecutors, if one exists. Eliason brothers file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy
St. Germain businessmen David J. and Brian E. Eliason are no longer facing criminal securities fraud charges, however they are not through with lawyers and courtrooms. Less than a week after Forest County Judge Leon Stenz signed an order dismissing 10 counts of securities fraud filed against the brothers in February 2016, the two men filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. Stepmother charged with second-degree reckless homicide in death of toddler
A 28-year-old Rhinelander woman was formally charged Tuesday with second-degree reckless homicide in connection with the death of her 20-month-old stepson.

According to a press release issued by Oneida County chief deputy Dan Hess just before 1 p.m. Monday, the department received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:24 p.m. Friday reporting a 20-month-old boy was breathing very shallowly.

Deputies and medics responded the scene and transported the child to St. Mary's Hospital. (subscriber access)

Rhinelander man draws jail sentence for stalking, other charges
A 34-year-old Rhinelander man facing a host of felony and misdemeanor charges in a total of four cases received a jail sentence Feb. 28 in Oneida County Circuit Court.

The most serious of the charges against Mark A. Schuh were felony stalking a victim under 18 as well as charges of sex with a child age 16 or older and exposing genitals to a child, both class A misdemeanors, as well as misdemeanor charges of violating a restraining order, bail jumping and two counts of OWI.
