Minocqua man charged with child sexual assault
A 25-year-old Minocqua man is being held in the Oneida County Jail on a $40,000 cash bond after a complaint was filed Jan. 3 charging him with two counts of first-degree child sexual assault (sexual contact with a person under age 13). (subscriber access)

Judge deems crimes in standoff case too severe for probation, jail time
It's not very often that a judge will reject a joint sentencing recommendation from the state and the defense in a criminal case. Faced with an unusual set of circumstances, Oneida County Circuit Judge Michael Bloom made that choice Friday in sentencing a 60-year-old Tripoli man who held several law enforcement agencies at bay for several hours and threatened to blow up his residence to a three-year prison term.
