State seeks to commit convicted child molester

Charles Wortman is led into the Branch II courtroom for his probable cause hearing Friday afternoon. He was convicted in 1993 of first-degree sexual assault of a child related to an incident the previous August at Hodag Beach. The state is seeking to have Wortman committed to a mental health facility as a sexually violent person.
Following a two-hour probable cause hearing Friday afternoon, an Oneida County Circuit judge has found probable cause that a 61-year-old man convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 1993 is a sexually violent person, setting the stage for a jury trial to determine if he will be released from confinement or held indefinitely. Woman charged with sending explicit images without consent
A 22-year-old Rhinelander woman has been charged with posting sexually explicit photos from the cellphone of a 25-year-old Rhinelander man on social media sites without his permission.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Oneida County District Attorney's office, Edna M. Brunk has been charged with distributing a recording of nudity without consent, a class I felony, and posting or publishing a sexually explicit image without consent, a class A misdemeanor. Man who skipped sentencing for contractor fraud back in court
The owner of a Park Falls construction and restoration business who pled guilty back in April 2015 to taking money from a town of Crescent couple but failing to complete work on their home, and who failed to appear at his sentencing hearing May 26, made his first appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court this week after being extradited from California. The Vilas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported burglary at the Krist Food Mart in St. Germain.

According to a sheriff's office press release, the break-in was reported at approximately 6:01 a.m. Monday.

Woodruff teen's use of Facebook nets bail jumping charge
A 17-year-old Woodruff youth who was charged Dec. 23 with six felonies relating to the sexting of inappropriate photos and propositioning underage girls for sex acts had a bail jumping felony added to his list of worries Tuesday.
