Partisan primary: What you need to know
Wisconsin's partisan primary is Tuesday, Aug. 12. - the day when voters will narrow the field of candidates by political party for the fall general election.

According to the state Government Accountability Board, voters who plan to register at a polling place on Election Day must bring an acceptable proof of residence document, such as a utility bill, lease, university identification card or other official document showing their name and current address.

A photo ID, however, will not be required.

Voters may only vote for candidates of one party in the partisan primary. Voters must identify one party - Democratic, Republican, or Constitution - and can choose only candidates in that party.

GAB is predicting that 15 percent of eligible voters will participate in the primary.

Polls will open at 7 a.m.
