A 60-year-old Rhinelander man was killed Saturday evening in a single-car accident in the town of Stella.
According to a press release from the Oneida County sheriff's office, a deputy came upon a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 45 North, near East Stella Lake Road, at approximately 7:20 p.m. The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the automobile was traveling northbound and crossed into the southbound lane, leaving the roadway. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the tree line. The victim has been identified as Mark Mohr, 60, of Rhinelander.
Highway 45 was closed for approximately two and a half hours so that the scene could be cleared and investigated, the release states.
According to sheriff's captain Terri Hook, the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Stella Fire Department, Three Lakes Fire Department, and Oneida County Emergency Medical Services responded to this scene.
