4/7/2017 8:58:00 PM UPDATE: Police report 'all clear' at 10 Sanns Street; no injuries, no threat
Law enforcement special response teams have left 10 Sanns Street in Rhinelander after deeming the area safe.
Several special response teams responded to that address at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday following a report that someone there had suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and there may be explosives in the residence.
According to interim police chief Ron Lueneburg, the individual who made the call had difficulty communicating with dispatch due to health issues. Law enforcement responded to the scene in an attempt to determine the veracity of the individual's statements, he explained.
"We have Marathon-Oneida County Bomb squad on scene," Lueneburg said in a brief press conference on scene at approximately 9 p.m. "They have the robot up on the residence right now. So at this point we're just gathering intelligence. We're not sure what this is going to turn out to be, if it's a valid complaint or not."
"The information that we have right now is that no one has been shot," he added.
Approximately one hour later, Lueneburg gave the assembled media an update. He reported that the area is all clear, there is no threat and no one was injured.
He added that he believes the law enforcement response, while intense, was appropriate given the information that was conveyed to dispatch.
