By River News staff

Vilas County authorities have identified a 71-year-old Waterford man found dead in Razorback Lake July 3.

According to a press release issued Tuesday, the deceased has been identified as Michael Manicke of Waterford, Wis. The sheriff's office previously stated the man was 74 years old and was from Watertown.

The body was found after Vilas authorities received a call at 9:52 a.m. July 3 reporting an unoccupied anchored boat with a fishing net floating next to it on Razorback Lake.

"Emergency crews responded to the incident and observed a deceased male subject in about seven to 10 feet of water," according to the release. "Oneida County Dive Team was dispatched to the scene for recovery of the body. The male subject was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident."

According to Tuesday's press release, the incident has been ruled an accidental drowning, pending toxicology results.

Plum Lake Ambulance Service, Plum Lake Fire Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Vilas County Coroner assisted the sheriff's office at the scene.
