8/8/2019 7:25:00 AM Westfahl appointed to tourism council
Gov. Tony Evers has appointed Krystal Westfahl, executive director of the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce, to the Governor's Council on Tourism. A press release from the governor's office stated the council advises the agency as it develops and enacts the strategic plan to advance tourism.
Westfahl is one of four new appointees. Originally from Minocqua, she has served as the chamber's executive director since August 2014.
The other three appointees are AJ Frels, executive director of Explore La Crosse, which is the La Crosse County Convention and Visitor's Bureau; Michelle Martin, the executive director of the Washburn County Tourism Association and Darren Bush, owner of Madison-based Rutabaga Paddlesports and founding member of the Blue Water Business Consortium.
"With its $7 to $1 return on investment, Wisconsin's $21.6 billion tourism industry is one of Wisconsin's leading economic drivers, the more than 199,000 individuals who rely on tourism for their livelihood and the taxpayers of Wisconsin are counting on the council to provide critical advice to ensure the prosperity of Wisconsin's thriving, fun-filled tourism industry," Evers said in the press release.
