Tax forms available at the Rhinelander District Library

The Rhinelander District Library is a resource for those preparing their tax returns.

According to a library press release, tax forms and instruction booklets for all 50 states are available via the internet (online) workstations at the library, or from home at www.irs.gov. Hard copies of booklets may be ordered by visiting IRS.gov/orderforms or calling 1-800-829-1040.

Wisconsin tax information is available on the internet at www.revenue.wi.gov. Copies and prints are 10 cents per page.

According to the release, the Rhinelander District Library and V-CAT have a variety of books to help in tax preparation including: J.K. Lasser's "Your Income Tax" and "Taxe$ for Dummie$."

"Library staff are not qualified to provide tax form selection, preparation assistance, or specialized information," the release states. "However, library staff are happy to help patrons locate forms and make copies."

The Oneida County Senior Center in Rhinelander will once again be offering income tax preparation help for low income and senior (priority, aged 60+) persons on Mondays and Wednesdays through April 8.

Appointments are required and may be made by calling 715-369-6170.

Certain forms for business use, such as the 1099 are not available at the library or online. The closest source for these is the IRS office in Appleton: 1901B East Capitol Dr. Appleton, WI 54911, (920) 996-4860 or Green Bay: 440 Security Blvd. Green Bay, WI 54313, (920) 662-5999, or by following instructions on the IRS website.

Questions about the tax forms available at the library can be directed to the main floor circulation desk at 715-365-1070.
