Lincoln Street Accident

Traffic on Lincoln Street was snarled for over 30 minutes Tuesday afternoon following a car versus semi accident at about 1:20 p.m. According to a Rhinelander police officer on scene, a 17-year-old female driver pulled out from the Walmart parking lot into the path of a semi, with the impact striking on the driver's side door frame of the vehicle, trapping her inside and blocking both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane. Rhinelander firefighters extracted the driver from the vehicle and she was transported to Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. The accident remains under investigation. The Oneida County sheriff's office assisted with traffic control until the scene was cleared.
