Fire destroys pole barn in Three Lakes

Jamie Taylor
River News Reporter

A fire destroyed a pole barn adjacent to Bonnie's Lakeside restaurant on Highway 32 in Three Lakes late Tuesday afternoon.

According to Three Lakes Fire Chief Dave Kirby, the fire was reported just before 5 p.m.

"It was a pole barn that was adjacent to the property," Kirby said, adding that the structure was a total loss. The restaurant itself was not damaged, he noted.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Wednesday morning, Kirby added.

"Superior Plumbing brought over an excavator that we could use to pull some snowmobiles out of the building," Kirby said. "Everything else in the building was pretty much a total loss."

Tankers from Eagle River, Sugar Camp, Stella and Hiles, assisted with the effort, which Kirby said kept firefighters on scene for about four hours.
