A $10,000 gift from the GFWC Rhinelander Woman's Club to the Building For The Future Capital Campaign has pushed the YMCA of the Northwoods closer to its $2 million goal.
"GFWC Rhinelander Woman's Club has a mission similar to the YMCA, that is, we want to make a difference in the community. Members realize the need for day care and more youth activities in our local area," GFWC Rhinelander Woman's Club President Cindy Goll said in a press release announcing the donation. "Our club was impressed by the thorough and detailed plans that the YMCA presented at the onset of the capital campaign, and we hope that other organizations will add support as well."
The Building For The Future Capital Campaign began in early 2018 when the YMCA of the Northwoods conducted a strategic planning process. Once high level needs were heard by the community, the Y then launched a community needs assessment, further developing the vision that will create impact for generations.
"It was important to the Y that we sat back and listened to our community," said Ryan Zietlow, YMCA CEO. "Our focus and vision was to learn how to best serve, while being good stewards of the resources our community can provide. Critical to this is how the Y can build a sustainable and impactful organization that will be here generations from now. This vision is a culmination of the past few years of dialogue and discussion with our friends and neighbors, not duplicating existing resources and ensuring we make a meaningful impact. We have great appreciation to the GFWC Rhinelander Woman's Club for their thoughtful and meaningful gift that will create change. We are excited to build this vision with them right beside us."
"Two organizations with common goals can accomplish great things. In the end, it is the people of our community that benefit for the long-term. Thank you, GFWC Rhinelander Woman's Club members for all you do," Zietlow noted.
The YMCA has raised nearly $1.5 million toward its goal of $2 million. The funds raised will go toward expanding the present building with a new attached 8,000-square-foot gymnasium and a large outdoor pavilion.
