Pedestrian killed in Eagle River accident

An 87-year-old Eagle River woman died Friday after being struck by a vehicle.

According to an Eagle River Police Department press release, Irma L. Pitlik was crossing E. Pine Street at the intersection with 2nd Avenue a little before 4 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a westbound vehicle being operated by an 87-year-old man. Pitlik was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Vilas County coroner, the preliminary autopsy results indicate Pitlik died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The Eagle River Police Department and Vilas County Sheriff's Office are investigating the accident.
