Oneida County delays Marshfield Clinic CUP decision

Nick Sabato
River News reporter

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee has decided to postpone its decision on a conditional use permit (CUP) application submitted by Marshfield Clinic to build a 12-bed, $30 million Marshfield Clinic hospital in Minocqua.

The proposed new hospital would be located less than a mile from Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff and officials at Howard Young have spoken out against the project.

The committee planned to vote on the CUP application Wednesday but received new information earlier this week that prompted a postponement.

The committee submitted questions for Marshfield Clinic to answer before a vote is taken and the responses turned out to be quite lengthy.

On Monday, committee chairman Scott Holewinski spoke with zoning director Karl Jennrich and it was determined the committee needs more time to review the new information.

At the committee's Wednesday meeting, the supervisors picked two potential dates for a vote on the CUP, noon May 31 in Minocqua or 6 p.m. June 8 in Minocqua. Two dates were chosen because committee members were unsure how long it will take them to review the new material.

A full story on Wednesday's meeting will be published in the Saturday edition of the River News.
