In need? Get assistance from Caritas Minocqua

Caritas Minocqua is a group of community volunteers dedicated to helping Oneida and Vilas county residents with urgent immediate needs.

Own a car that has had an unexpected problem? Had a fire or damage to a home or apartment? Living in your car or with a relative or friend? Looking for work? Had a serious medical problem? Any or all of which have added additional stress and expense to already limited funds?

Caritas Minocqua is ready and willing to listen and see how they can help.

"Caritas Minocqua is a group of volunteers available every Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Matthias' Episcopal Church Outreach Center, commonly known as Edgar's Place," organizers said in a press release. "It is at 300 Arbor Vitae Street, Minocqua (next to St. Matthias Episcopal Church on the corner of Arbor Vitae Street and Hwy. 51 North). No appointment is needed, just stop in. Be greeted with smiles of welcome and invited to share snacks along with coffee, tea, or water. Photo identification is needed like a valid driver's license, WI State ID, or Tribal ID, and a questionnaire will be filled out. Meet with a pair of volunteers who will assist with the immediate needs of those who come in. Caritas can provide limited monetary payments to help with overdue bills or expenses, prescription medications, DMV needs like a driver's license or vehicle plates, work clothing, furniture, household goods, food and personal products, as well as other needs. Bring along the bill, estimate or prescription. Caritas also provides referrals to other agencies and organizations just like Caritas dedicated to helping those in need. All Caritas services are confidential."

Those who live in Oneida or Vilas counties or know someone in need should contact Caritas Minocqua. Call 715-356-9989 for more information.
