Trig's trucking facility catches fire

The Trig's Trucking & Recycling facility on Grossman Avenue in the town of Pelican was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

According to a Kindl Furtak of T.A. Solberg Company, Trig's parent company, smoke was seen coming from the facility, which is located at 7050 Grossman Ave., at approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

"The fire started in the recycling area, but the cause is still unknown at this time," Furtak said in a press release. No one was injured, however the Trucking & Recycling Facility has been lost."

Trig's Central Bakery, which is connected to Trig's Trucking & Recycling Facility, was not directly damaged by the fire, but there is some level of water and smoke damage at the Bakery, the release states. Trig's associates will not be able to reenter the Bakery until the CO2 has cleared and it is known to be safe. All associates who work in these facilities will be offered positions at other locations until they are able to return to their jobs at Central Bakery.

"The most important thing is that everyone is safe. We are very fortunate to have a team that can accomplish great things, even in the face of adversity," said Bob Jaskolski, President & COO of T.A. Solberg Co., Inc. "This group really pulls together when they need to get things done and we have a number of great resources with our in-store bakeries so I am confident that we will be able to overcome this obstacle and take care of our guests."

Numerous fire departments, including Pelican, Pine Lake, Rhinelander, Sugar Camp, Newbold, Cassian, Crescent, and the Little Rice canteen, responded to the fire and were on scene for several hours.

"The entire Trig's organization would like to extend their gratitude to the fire departments and emergency personnel who responded to the fire today," the release states.
