The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has confirmed that one person in Oneida County has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
This individual is in their 20's with a known history of travel, according to the health department. The individual is currently in isolation and has been very compliant. County health officials are working to determine how the person may have become infected and is contacting individuals with whom the patient had close contact with.
Linda Conlon, Oneida County Health Department Director/Health Officer asks community members to follow Governor Evers' Safer At Home order and stay at home as much as possible. "With community spread of COVID-19 throughout the state of Wisconsin, it is very important that everyone takes this seriously," Conlon added. In addition, people should continue to:
Frequently and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water
Cover coughs and sneezes
Avoid touching your face
Stay home when sick
Practice social and physical distancing
Avoid large gatherings and crowds
Symptoms of COVID‐19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you think you may have COVID‐19, you should call the clinic or hospital before going. Please do not call 9‐1‐1; this should be reserved for those needing critical emergency attention.
OCHD is keeping track of this outbreak. We are working with our local, state, and federal partners to deal quickly and effectively when people have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around people who have been infected with the coronavirus to make sure our community remains safe and healthy.
This is a rapidly evolving situation. This is what we know now, and information may change.
