9/23/2021 1:54:00 PM One killed in Highway 51 crash
A man is dead following a two-car accident on U.S. Highway 51 in Hazelhurst Sept. 22.
According to the Oneida County sheriff's office, a 9-1-1 call was received at approximately 6:37 p.m. Wednesday reporting a two-vehicle accident on Highway 51 and County D in the Town of Hazelhurst.
"Findings from the preliminary investigation indicate that a 68-year-old male was operating a 1973 Opel Classic 2-door sedan traveling westbound on County D and entered the intersection of Highway 51 and County D. A male operator driving a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling southbound on Highway 51 when the truck struck the vehicle that entered the intersection," the sheriff's department reports. "The 68-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene."
His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The State Patrol Reconstruction Team, Hazelhurst Fire, Cassian Fire, Minocqua Fire, Little Rice Fire, Oneida County Ambulance and the Oneida County Highway Department assisted the Oneida County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
