Eighth case of COVID-19 confirmed in Oneida County

Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has received notification an eighth person in Oneida County has been diagnosed with novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The individual is in their 30's and has no history of travel and no known contact with someone who has previously tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was tested at one of the Wisconsin National Guard Community Testing events and has been self-isolating. County health officials are working to determine how the individual may have become infected and are contacting others with whom the person with the positive result had close contact with.

Linda Conlon, Oneida County Health Department Director/Health Officer asks community members to follow Governor Evers' Safer At Home order and continue to protect yourself and those around you. "Now is not the time to become complacent. We must continue to have resolve and think of our friends and neighbors as we help keep our community strong and healthy," Conlon added. In addition, people should continue to:

• Frequently and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water

• Cover coughs and sneezes

• Avoid touching your face

• Stay home when sick

• Practice physical/social distancing

• Avoid large gatherings and crowds

• Utilize cloth face coverings when physical/social distancing is difficult to do
