Baseball: Rhinelander 11, Mosinee 1 The RHS baseball team jumped on Mosinee early and often, defeating the Indians 11-1 in six innings Tuesday in Mosinee. The Hodags pounded out 13 hits on the day. Brad Quade was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Jacob DeMeyer and Tyler Blomdahl each went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Brad Comer struck out eight and allowed an unearned run on two hits over six innings in the win for the Hodags. Rhinelander (5-1, 2-0 Great Northern) will host Antigo Thursday. Softball: Mosinee 11, Rhinelander 4 Mistakes doomed the RHS softball team Tuesday. The Hodags committed seven errors which led to six unearned runs in an 11-4 loss to Mosinee at Pioneer Park. All off Mosinee's runs came in innings in which the Hodags committed multiple errors. The Indians scored one in the second, five in the fifth and five more in the seventh. Makayla Kuester homered for Rhinelander to tie the game 1-1 in the fourth and Stephanie Kuester hit a two-run double in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-4, but the Hodags could draw no closer. Rhinelander starting pitcher Ali Schickert left the game in the seventh with an apparent knee injury. She allowed five earned runs on seven hits and struck out eight over 6 1/3 innings. Rhinelander (2-1, 2-1 Great Northern) travels to Antigo Thursday. Girls' soccer: Rhinelander 5, Mosinee 1 Alayna Franson continued to spark the offensive for the Rhinelander High School girls' soccer team Tuesday night. A day after recording four assists in a win over Wausau East, the Hodag junior score two goals and tallied three helpers in Rhinelander 5-1 win over Mosinee at Mike Webster Stadium. Izzy Haverkampf, Sydney Zettler and Albiona Sabani scored the other goals for the Hodags, who led 3-1 at halftime. Michelle Weinberg netted Mosinee's lone goal on a 16th-minute penalty kick. Official game stats were not immediately available. Rhinelander (4-2-0, 3-0-0 Great Northern) hosts Ashland on Thursday. Golf: Rhinelander 4th/5, Marshfield Invite The Rhinelander High School golf team shot 371 and placed fourth out of five teams in an invite at River Edge Golf Course in Marshfield. Nick Twite paced the Hodags with a round of 85 in soggy conditions. Zach Olds shot 91, Will England shot 95, Matthew Reinthaler carded a 100 and Gunnar Millot shot 102. The Hodags next tee it up Saturday at Medford. Boys' tennis: Phillips at Rhinelander, ppd. Rhinelander's home boys' tennis match against Phillips Tuesday was postponed due to rain. The match will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Phillips May 4. Rhinelander (5-3, 2-0 Great Northern) heads to Antigo Thursday. Full reports will be published in Thursday's River News.
