Girls' soccer: Rhinelander 4, Ashland 1
The Rhinelander High School girls' soccer team cliched its sixth-straight Great Northern Conference title Tuesday, defeating Ashland 4-1 at Northland University.
The Hodags lead 3-0 at halftime in a game that was halted three times due to lightning and was declared official eight minutes shy of full time.
Rhinelander (15-3-0, 11-0-0 Great Northern) hosts Wausau West Saturday
Baseball: Antigo 7, Rhinelander 2
The RHS baseball team fell to Antigo 7-2 Tuesday at Kretz Bros. Park. Full details were not immediately available.
Rhinelander (12-4, 7-2 Great Northern) hosts Tomahawk Thursday.
Softball: Rhinelander 3-5, Antigo 2-1
The RHS softball team's conference championship race stayed alive Tuesday as the Hodags swept a doubleheader from Antigo 3-2 and 5-1 at Pioneer Park.
Ivy Packard scored the winning run on a bunt-single and a three-base error in the seventh inning of Game 1 after Antigo tied it in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by Kendall Smith off Molly Wagler.
The Hodags broke open Game 2 with a four-run fourth keyed by RBI hits from Wagler, Sophia McGinnis and Mikayla Evenstad. The game was called in the sixth inning due to lightning.
Stephanie Kuester got the win in both games, pitching two-thirds of an inning in relief in Game 1 and pitching five innings in Game 2.
Rhinelander (12-8, 8-3 Great Northern) travels to Tomahawk Thursday.
