The Rhinelander High School girls' swim team won five of 10 events and took first place in the Hodag Relays Saturday at the Heck Family Community Pool.
Makenna Winnicki, Lisa Kennedy and Grace Heck all had a hand in three relay wins for the Hodags. Taylor Macak, Jenna Hawley, Marisa McQuire and Maddie Quinn were all part of two winning relays. Emily McFarland and Jaylen Janssen also found the winners circle.
The Hodags set meet records in four events and defeated second-place Wausau West by 36 points.
Rhinelander hosts Ladysmith/Bruce/Flambeau on Thursday.
Volleyball: Rhinelander 3rd/8, Shawano Invite
The Rhinelander High School volleyball team went 3-2 on the day and took third place at the Shawano Invite.
The Hodags lost to Shawano (19-25, 22-25), beat Peshtigo (25-14, 25-13) and Oconto (25-17, 25-16) in pool play to advance to the championship bracket. Rhinelander fell to Wausau West (23-25, 23-25) in the semifinals before defeating Oconto Falls (25-16, 22-25, 15-13) for third place.
Hope Wissbroecker had 57 kills, 55 digs, 19 blocks and 10 aces on the day. Makayla Kuester had 51 assists and Stephanie Kuester had 86 digs.
Rhinelander (10-11, 1-1 Great Northern) travels to Mosinee Tuesday.
