The Rhinelander/Northland Pines Alpine ski team finished toward the back of the pack Monday as the 2018 WIARA state ski meet wrapped up in La Crosse.

Hodag bowlers struggle in regular season finale
The Rhinelander/Eagle River boys team posted scores of 1,117 and 1,024 in its two matches to fall out of contention in Division 1 while the Rhinelander/Eagle River girls, down a bowler due to injury, posted scores of 861 and 792 in the Wisconsin High School Bowling Club District 9 finale Sunday at Dale's Weston Lanes.

Hodag gymnasts reclaim GNC Small title
The Hodags turned in a score of 119.4 points Saturday to take first place in the Small division at the GNC meet in Wisconsin Rapids, claiming their second division title in three years as a result.

True to recent form, the Hodags put the pedal down in the second half Friday, following a sluggish start, and defeated Antigo 59-27 at Sheldon Fieldhouse to close out the regular season.

Hodag hoops locks down GNC, No. 1 seed with win over Antigo
The Hodags were dominant defensively and used a big first half run to cruise past Antigo 56-36 at Sheldon Fieldhouse. The win was the final piece of the tournament resume for the Hodags who, on Sunday, earned the No. 1 seed in the sectional.

Alicia Turunen recorded a 46-save performance but couldn't stop a pair of power play opportunities as the Edge lost to the Fox Cities Stars co-op 3-1 Friday night in a WIAA regional final game in Appleton.

Shrader finishes 16th for Hodags in state snowboard
A crash in boardercross proved to be enough to keep Hodag senior Kaiya Shrader out of the top 10 in the final individual standings at the girls' snowboarding competition at the WIARA state meet in La Crosse. She placed 16th overall.

Five for fighting
Tyler Olson, Jacob DeMeyer and Alec Kurtz won WIAA Division 1 sectional wrestling titles at Wausau West. They will be joined at the Kohl Center in Madison for this week's state tournament by Reuben Guzik and Colton Krueger, who finished second in their weight classes.
