RHS Alpine begins homestand
The Hodags hosted the first of two Northern Conference races over a span of three days Thursday at Ski Brule, taking home second-place team finishes in boys' skiing and both boys' and girls' snowboarding.

The Rhinelander High School girls' basketball team struggled against Lakeland's high-pressure style Thursday night, committing 31 turnovers in a 65-38 loss to the Thunderbirds in a Great Northern Conference matchup at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

Mosinee downs Hodag hockey 2-1 in OT
The Hodags had second-place Mosinee on the ropes Thursday night. Kurt Zuiker scored to send the game to overtime but Dylan Bednar netted the game-winner 1:55 into the extra session as the Indians prevailed 2-1 at the Mosinee Rec Center.

A winter storm bearing down on Wisconsin has forced the postponement of a Great Northern Conference boys' basketball showdown between Mosinee and Rhinelander scheduled for Tuesday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. Northern Edge girls' hockey vs. Central Wisconsin in Antigo has also been nixed.
