Every team wants to finish the season playing its best and, despite a 10-14 overall record, the Rhinelander High School girls' basketball team felt like it did just that. (subscriber access)

Circumstances hindered Hodags in 2016-17

Eagle River's Decker inks three-race deal with Venturini Motorsports of ARCA Series
Natalie Decker, a 19-year-old native from Eagle River has signed with the Venturini Motorsports for three upcoming races in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards. She is scheduled to compete in Elko, Minn., Toledo, Oh. and Pocono, Pa.

Adult-youth bowling tournament
Hodag Lanes held a local qualifier for the Wisconsin Adult/Youth Scholarship tournament on Feb. 24. Pictured above, Jacob Wagler and Rick Larson took first place in tournament. Pictured below, Molly Wagler and Tyler Krogh finished second and the team Calvin Schneider and Nick Plouff, not pictured, took third. All three teams qualified for the state Adult/Youth Scholarship Tournament April 9 at Lincoln Lanes in Merrill. The youth team members could win up to $400 in scholarships at the tournament.

Back in the swing of things
The only real sign of spring Monday when the Rhinelander High School softball team started practice was the lack of players in the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

That's not because of a lack of interest in a team that has won 18 or more games in each of the last three seasons. That's because Monday was also the start of spring break in the School District of Rhinelander. (subscriber access)
