WIAA schools shoot down private school multiplier at annual meeting
The membership of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association defeated amendments intended to address competitive equity concerns, and passed resolutions for coaches' certification requirements and adding basketball, hockey and volleyball to the list of sports with unlimited non-school contact in the summer at the 2015 Annual Meeting Wednesday in Stevens Point.

The Rhinelander High School boys' tennis team breezed past Phillips Thursday, winning all five contested matches on its way to a 7-0 victory in a Great Northern Conference dual meet at the RHS tennis courts.

In games between closely-matched teams, it's the squad that capitalizes on the most opportunities that usually comes out on top. That proved to be the case Thursday as Rhinelander fell behind early and couldn't complete a comeback in a 4-3 loss to No. 1 (D2) Mosinee at Pioneer Park.
