Rhinelander woman wins helmet

A high-definition TV, a laptop computer, watching a Green Bay Packer game from a plushy recliner in a VIP section of Lambeau Field.

Those were some of the prize options available to people who attended one of the four area "Frontoberfest" events Frontier Communications held this fall to highlight the company's services to current and prospective customers - and in the process provide free food and the chance to win some major giveaways. Frontier held events in Rhinelander, Minocqua, Wausau and Marshfield.

Nobody from the Rhinelander area took home any of the big prizes, but Frontier recently announced that local woman Eileen Persike won a Green Bay Packer helmet signed by tight end Jermichael Finley. Frontier is in its third year of being a Packers corporate sponsor. Signed helmets were given away to a winner at each of the "Frontoberfest" events.

"We enjoy conversations with our friends and neighbors and other community members about what we are doing to invest in the markets we serve and help people with their communications needs," said Julie Berndt, the manager of Frontier's Rhinelander office. "Being able to award a prize such as a Green Bay tickets or signed helmet, HDTV, laptop or electronic tablet makes the conversation even better."

Frontier also has weekly drawings where the company gives away Packers merchandise to its customers during the football season.

Was Persike excited about being the lucky recipient of a Jermichael Finley-signed helmet?

"Sure, I never win anything," Persike answered.

The helmet doesn't mark the first piece of Packer receiver-signed memorabilia in the Persike household. A couple of years ago, when the Packers' tailgate tour rolled through Rhinelander, Persike said her son was able to obtain a small football signed by wide receiver James Jones.
