6/17/2017 7:24:00 AM NAMI announces drop-in center will open in July
NAMI Northern Lakes has announced that a home has been found for a drop-in center, to be called the Northern Lakes Center, to serve people in this area who are dealing with mental illness. The center will be located in downstairs rooms of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rhinelander, according to a NAMI press release.
The center will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., beginning Monday, July 31.
NAMI Northern Lakes has been working for nearly three years with its partners to create the center, the release states. The partners are Tri-County Human Service Center, Ministry Behavioral Health and Mid-State Independent Living.
"After we had been meeting for some months to figure out what the needs were, our NAMI chapter voted to take on the project," NAMI Northern Lakes Board President Mick Fiocchi said.
The center will be peer-run, with participation from the members, led by a Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist. "We will create a stigma-free, friendly atmosphere that will allow our members to pursue their recoveries with the support of their peers," said center Steering Committee Chair Dan Rondello.
