Newbold employee assisting in hurricane relief efforts
By River NEws staffA Newbold town employee is collecting supplies to be transported to hurricane survivors in Texas and possibly Florida, the town announced in a press release.
Hurricane relief supplies will be collected at the Newbold Town Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13.
According to the press release, T.J. Belunes, an employee of the town of Newbold, has announced his desire to take his personal vehicle and trailer down to Texas (or possibly Florida) and help with disaster relief efforts.
"He will leave this Thursday with as much supplies as possible and distribute them to those in need along with the Red Cross," the release states. "At first, he planned to go and assist with search and rescue efforts, as he is a veteran with military experience in search and rescue. Then, after arranging his schedule, he realized the trip would be needed for delivery of supplies instead. In an effort to support T.J. and those effected by the hurricane, Newbold town officials will assist in collecting supplies to be sent with him from northern Wisconsin to Texas. Anyone interested in dropping off any of the following items may do so this Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday between 4 and 6 p.m."
Hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, hand sanitizer, hand and face wipes, mosquito repellent, diapers, baby formula, flashlights, batteries, blankets, non-perishable food, water, cleaning supplies, face masks, gloves, brooms, mops, garbage bags, underwear, socks, and rubber boots are requested.
For more information about the project, contact the town clerk at 715-362-1092 or T.J. Belunes at 715-891-6677.
