5/9/2019 7:26:00 AM Conserve School presents author Peter Annin May 14
The Conserve School in Land O'Lakes will welcome author Peter Annin Tuesday, May 14. Dinner is set for 5:30 p.m. with a program to follow at 6:30 p.m.
Annin is the author of "The Great Lakes Water Wars," and director of the Mary Griggs Burke Center for Freshwater Innovation at Northland College.
"From Waukesha to Foxconn, and the massive water diversion in Chicago, Great Lakes water tensions continue to make news across the region," according to a Conserve School press release. "Throughout history, Lake Superior has often been on the frontline in the Great Lakes water diversion debate, including the highly controversial Nova proposal of 1998, which planned to use ocean-going tankers to ship 158 million gallons of Lake Superior water to Asia every year. Last fall, Annin published a major revision of his award-winning book, 'The Great Lakes Water Wars.' His talk will help cut through the confusion surrounding the Great Lakes water diversion debate and help put Great Lakes water tensions in a regional, continental, and global context."
Reservations are required. Cost for dinner and program is $15, or $5 for the program only. Land O'Lakes Fish and Game members receive a $5 discount. Tickets for the dinner and the program are available online at conserveschool.org or by calling 715-547-1300. The Land O'Lakes Fish and Game Club is co-sponsoring this event with Conserve School.
