City, YMCA team up for free Fit in the Park wellness classes

The YMCA of the Northwoods and the City of Rhinelander are joining forces this summer to help improve the community's health.

The city and the YMCA are teaming up to offer a variety of group classes that will be free of charge and open to the community.

"As Rhinelander's leading provider of health and wellness opportunities, the YMCA of the Northwoods invites all to get engaged in a healthy lifestyle," YMCA officials said in a press release. "Classes will welcome all fitness levels and focus on fundamental movements suited for beginners to elite athletes. Classes will offer strength, conditioning, flexibility, mobility, balance and core work."

Classes will be offered every Wednesday evening beginning June 12 and will be held at Hodag Park near the beach house, the release states.

Visit the YMCA of the Northwoods Facebook page for information about specific classes as well as weather updates.

"No registration is required, just show up," the release states. "Also be on the lookout for special 'pop-up' classes throughout the summer in various locations throughout the City of Rhinelander."

"As a community leading nonprofit focused on Healthy Living, the YMCA appreciates the positive collaboration with the City of Rhinelander to make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors. We understand that our ability to make a greater impact on the Northwoods is achieved through strong partnerships, this is one example." said Ryan Zietlow, CEO, YMCA of the Northwoods.

"As we look to make the Rhinelander community THE place to live, work and play stay tuned for even more exciting YMCA efforts to make a difference."

"City Hall always appreciates finding opportunities to connect public assets with local non-profits to create new synergies and opportunities for our residents," added Mayor Chris Frederickson. "This sounds like a great program which I hope many people within the City will be able to enjoy."
