5/11/2019 7:30:00 AM Howard Young birthing center to
hold annual infant memorial service
While every mother hopes and prays for a healthy pregnancy and birth of her baby, some pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth.
The Birthing Center at Howard Young Medical Center, part of Ascension, will hold its annual Pregnancy/Infant Loss Memorial Service at Forest Garden Cemetery, Woodruff at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19.
The service, which is open to anyone in the community, will honor the precious babies who were lost last year and remember all of those who died in the past, organizers said in a press release.
"The loss of a baby is a time of grief that needs comfort and support," said Polly Martin, RN, Birthing Center at Howard Young Medical Center. "All are welcome to attend this Memorial Service and celebrate the little lives that have touched our hearts."
The non-denominational service, coordinated by the birthing center nursing staff, will include readings, prayers and music. Parents and siblings are encouraged to share any personal poetry, letters, prayers or thoughts as part of the service.
