Lakeland Kiwanis seeks exhibitors for Island Art Walk

The Lakeland Kiwanis Club has announced the Island Art Walk event will again be held at Torpy Park in Minocqua from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

Island Art Walk is now accepting exhibitors for this year's show. The Island Art Walk is open to both amateur and professional artists whose work is original in concept and design, plus the artist exhibiting must complete all their own work, organizers said in a press release.

Past exhibitors have been local artists as well as artists from as far away as Florida and all surrounding Midwestern states. New exhibitors are always welcome. The art work includes fine original crafts which are very diverse including paintings, drawings, stained glass, sculpture, jewelry, decorative painting, carving, basketry, textiles, wood working, pottery and much more.

Artists are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird registration pricing of $60 and register before June 1 to save $15 off of the regular $75 price which is effective June 1 through July 5.

Applications are available on the Lakeland Kiwanis website at under the "Island Art Walk" tab to print out the instructions and application.

Live music of Gregg Thomas, a well-known local musician, will again fill the air making a fun and festive event, the release states.

The Kiwanis Club will also be holding its annual brat cookout for visitors for a small donation, which supports their mission to help children in the local community.

Event sponsors are local art gallery Parkside Gallery, Eye Care Eye Wear Associates, Drs. Redman, Redman and Gelinas, and the Campanile Center for the Arts. Parkside Gallery will again be a "visitor stop" for the public before continuing on the path to the Campanile Center for the Arts.
