6/13/2019 7:25:00 AM Oneida County to celebrate National Pollinator Week
Oneida County will host two events this week to celebrate National Pollinator Week.
The first event, "Bee the Change - Make Pollinators Great Again," will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 14 at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts at 9 a.m. June 15 at the Three Lakes Historical Society.
The event highlights include a presentation and a guided garden tour by Heather Holm, an award-winning author of many popular bee and pollinator books, a film screening of "Hometown Habitat" featuring renowned entomologist, Dr. Douglas Tallamy, information on buckthorn identification and how to remove it, and the effects of invasive plants on pollinators, organizers said in a press release. There will also be a native wildflower sale following the garden tour.
For a complete schedule, visit the Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce webpage at threelakes.com/event/bee-the-change-make-pollinators-great-again/.
This event is sponsored by the Edith Reiter Trust, Three Lakes Waterfront Association, Three Lakes Community Foundation, and private sponsors. Any donations collected will be used to help fund pollinator-friendly habitat sites around the Three Lakes community.

Pollinator Garden open house
The second event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. June 18 at the Oneida County courthouse in Rhinelander.
It will be an open house at the courthouse Pollinator Garden, located behind the building.
Join Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department staff Michele Sadauskas and Ehrig at the courthouse garden on Baird Avenue to talk about pollinator friendly gardens, habitat improvements, pollinator friendly farming techniques, greenspace management, and take a garden tour.
Stop by for a hot dog, lemonade, or a chat, and take home a complimentary native wildflower plant (while supplies last).
