Combustible Company, a Minneapolis-based theater company, is bringing "Monster Heart," a unique theatrical experience to Minocqua June 21-22. The performances will be in the Scott Reed Theater, a private theater space adjacent to the home of Tara and Jerry Woolpy, 8395 Woolpy Drive in Minocqua, at 7:30 p.m. both nights. The public is welcome. A sliding scale donation of $10-20 per person is requested to help defray Combustible Company's costs, organizers said in a press release.
"'Monster Heart' is a dreamlike adaptation taking a new look at Mary Shelley's classic 'Frankenstein,' focusing on the life of its author and her relationship to the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley," the release states. "The love affair of Mary and Percy entwines with the complex relationship of Victor Frankenstein and his creature to explore the making of monsters. Electrifying movement, poetry and puppetry combine to create an unconventional love story that moves from graveyard to laboratory to society salon - revealing the labor of creation, the quest for immortality, the rejection of the 'other' and a struggle to love in the midst of it all.
