Local businesses announces 'Stuff the Bus' challenge

Three local banks will be collection spots for the Northwoods United Way's annual "Stuff the Bus" event.

"This event has been very successful in previous years," said Nancy Sattler, executive director for the NWUW. "We are excited to have more area businesses participate by collecting supplies from their customers and employees throughout the summer."

Associated Bank, mBank and Nicolet Bank will be participating in the challenge. They will compete for the best collection bin, as well as for the amount of supplies collected. Nicolet Bank and Associated Banks in Rhinelander will be collecting supplies for the School District of Rhinelander. mBank, Associated Bank and Nicolet Bank in Eagle River will be collecting supplies for the Northland Pines School District.

"The goal is to ensure all students are on equal footing when school starts," Sattler noted. "Many children look forward to arriving on the first day of school with new notebooks, backpacks and pencils, but it's a different story for children whose families can't afford these items. You can help by simply picking up an extra package of paper, pens or other school supplies and bringing them to our bus on Aug. 28 or by dropping them off at one of these locations."

Nicolet National Bank Manager Amy Vanney said, "Nicolet Bank is proud to assist the Northwoods United Way by collecting supplies for the kids in the communities we live, work, and play in"

If your business would like to get involved in the challenge, or if you would like more information on this year's "Stuff the Bus" event, or for information about the Northwoods United Way, contact Nancy Sattler at 715-202-3344 or via email at nwuway@newnorth.net.
