'Staying Bright as the Days Dim'
Ascension Koller Behavioral Health offers monthly mindfulness and meditation programs in Rhinelander that are free to anyone in the community.
"Staying Bright as the Days Dim," is the featured program for September and will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at Ascension Koller Behavioral Health, 1020 Kabel Avenue in the second floor conference room. Advanced registration is not required, according to a press release.
"This program will provide useful mindfulness skills as the summer sets in our review mirror," noted Kathy Mitchell, MA, of Ascension Koller Behavioral Health.
Ascension Koller Behavioral Health also offers the Riverside Meditation Group. In September, meditation will be held on Sept. 5 and 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Riverside Meditation Group is an opportunity for anyone with a meditation practice to have regular group support. There are two 20-minute seated meditations with either walking meditation or Qigong in between. The meditation model is silent and still with occasional guided meditations. The session ends with a short talk focusing on enhancing skills of mindfulness and meditation. The Riverside Meditation Group draws from western psychological mindfulness teachings, philosophy, literature, and poetry.
