10/17/2019 7:28:00 AM Local church to give away ice cream Oct. 22
Calvary Baptist Church, 320 Lincoln Street in Rhinelander, will be giving away containers of ice cream from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
"There will be a semi-truck loaded with ice cream - and our goal is to distribute as much of it as we can in three hours," Pastor Rod Ankrom said in a press release. "We want to make this the biggest free ice cream giveaway in the history of Rhinelander."
The ice cream comes courtesy of Ruby's Pantry, a ministry sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church.
Ruby's Pantry has a food distribution the third Tuesday of each month at the National Guard Armory in Rhinelander from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
For a donation of $20 (cash), participants can receive approximately two laundry baskets of a wide variety of food, the release states.
Guests to Ruby's can register on-line or register on the day of the food distribution.
"Ruby's Pantry is a way of showing God's love in a practical way," Ankrom said. "There are no income requirements to participate. If you eat food, you qualify for Ruby's Pantry. Some people believe that if they come to Ruby's, they will be taking food away from someone else - but that is absolutely not true. Everyone is welcome to come to Ruby's."
